Brief :-

Department of Radiology Technology at the of Health and Medical Technology at Al-Zahraa University for Women was established pursuant to Administrative Decree No. 21890 of 2018 issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Studies began in 2019–2020 academic year.
The Department offers a comprehensive Bachelor's program in radiology technology and features an advanced infrastructure, including modern classrooms designed according to the latest international teaching methods. The Department also includes specialized laboratories fully equipped with the latest advanced equipment from reputable international sources, directly related to radiology and medical imaging.
Based on its commitment to enhancing the practical experience of female students, the Department has signed several cooperation agreements with hospitals and medical centers specializing in radiology and medical imaging, both in the public and private sectors, particularly medical institutions affiliated with Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). These agreements provide students with field training opportunities that contribute to nurturing their skills and expanding their professional experience.
Department of Radiology Technology comprises a select group of highly qualified and specialized Faculty members, some of whom are MSc and PhD holders, who graduated from prestigious international universities. This reflects the Department's commitment to providing solid academic education that keeps pace with global developments in the field of radiology technology.
The Department was established in response to the growing need for this vital specialty, particularly in Karbala Governorate and the Middle Euphrates Governorates, as well as the need of the health sector in Iraq in general, particularly for qualified female staff with scientific and professional competence.
The Department aspires to prepare highly skilled female graduates in radiology technology, capable of providing quality medical services and actively participating in scientific research relevant to the community. It also aims to provide technical education with research competencies that contribute to the development of this vital field.

Department of Radiology Technology seeks to be a leading educational body in the field of technical education, locally, regionally, and globally, in both academic and professional aspects. It strives to graduate distinguished personnel who combine theoretical excellence with practical skills, by offering solid educational and knowledge-based programs in the field of radiology.
The Department also aims to contribute effectively to improving the quality of healthcare services, meeting the needs of the labor market, and advancing scientific research to serve the aspirations of our beloved country and keep pace with global developments in this crucial field.

The department is based on educating, training and graduating employees of medical photographers who are scientifically and professionally distinguished, who are able to deal with complex and advanced techniques in the field of radiological imaging devices to employ what they have gained of experience in the field of medical imaging to serve the community and the country.

Objectives :-

The Department of Radiologic Technology at the College of Health and Medical Technologies aims to:

  • Preparing and graduating specialized employees of medical photographers with a bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology who are qualified at a very high level in the field of medical imaging, in accordance with international standards to work in various governmental and private health institutions.
  • Graduating radiologic technicians who are ethically and professionally committed to practicing the profession and providing the required medical care to patients.
  • Commit to put the safety of the patient and the radiographer in the first place during the radiology process.
  • Preparing and graduating scientifically capable employees in the scientific research field to supplement technical education, especially the radiology department, with specialized research employees.
  • Exchanging experiences with relevant educational and health institutions in developed countries for knowledge and professional enrichment.
  • Preparing cadres capable of dealing with patients professionally during imaging sessions.
