Brief :-

The Department of Radiologic Technology was established by virtue of the administrative order issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research No. (21890) for the year 2018 with the establishment of the university.
The department is based on educating, training and graduating employees of medical photographers who are scientifically and professionally distinguished, who are able to deal with complex and advanced techniques in the field of radiological imaging devices to employ what they have gained of experience in the field of medical imaging to serve the community and the country.
Due to the urgent need for the specialization of radiology techniques in the Karbala governorate and most of the central Euphrates governorates in particular and Iraq in general, as well as the need of the health sector in the country for this important specialization, especially of female employees. The College of Health and Medical Technologies at Al-Zahraa (pbuh) University for women has created the Department of Radiology Techniques to provide the country with advanced employees that have the ability and competence to provide health services related to the community and are also able to lead scientific research operations in the field of radiology techniques and provide technical education with specialized research employees.
The department has a distinguished infrastructure of modern classrooms, which are designed to suit the modern teaching methods used globally. The department also has very modern complete specialized laboratories with different specializations, equipped with the latest equipment with solid international origins, which are directly related to the specialization of radiology techniques. 
In addition, the department has corporate agreements with hospitals and specialized medical centers related to radiology and departments of medical imaging and its various types in both the government sector and the private sector, represented by hospitals and specialized medical centers affiliated with the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine. As these agreements would allow students to practice field work, increase their experience and practical skills, and get acquainted closely with matters related to their specializations and the work environment.

Vision :-

    The department aspires to be a pioneer in the field of radiology technical education locally, regionally and globally in the academic and professional fields, and for its outputs to be distinguished “theoretically and practically” by providing the best knowledge programs in the field of radiology, and also aspires to raise the level of health services required to cover the needs of the labor market and push forward in the march of scientific research in our dear country.

Objectives :-

The Department of Radiologic Technology at the College of Health and Medical Technologies aims to:

  1. Preparing and graduating specialized employees of medical photographers with a bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology who are qualified at a very high level in the field of medical imaging, in accordance with international standards to work in various governmental and private health institutions.
  2. Graduating radiologic technicians who are ethically and professionally committed to practicing the profession and providing the required medical care to patients.
  3. Commit to put the safety of the patient and the radiographer in the first place during the radiology process.
  4. Preparing and graduating scientifically capable employees in the scientific research field to supplement technical education, especially the radiology department, with specialized research employees.
  5. Exchanging experiences with relevant educational and health institutions in developed countries for knowledge and professional enrichment.
  6. Preparing cadres capable of dealing with patients professionally during imaging sessions.
